YOUR TEAM

Rehabilitation is a team effort, and at CBI OT Services, you are at the centre of your team. We would like to take the opportunity to tell you more about the health professionals, who may be involved on your treatment team.

Case Managers

Case management is a collaborative process of assessment, planning, facilitation and advocacy for options and services to meet an individual's health needs through communication and available resources.

Case management serves as a means for achieving client wellness and autonomy through advocacy, communication, education, identification of service resources and service facilitation. The case manager helps identify appropriate providers and facilities throughout the continuum of services.

Occupational Therapists

Occupational Therapy is a treatment that focuses on helping people increase independent function and enhance development in all areas of their daily life (e.g., home, work, community).

Occupational therapists believe that occupations describe who you are and how you feel about yourself. If you are unable to do the things you want, or need to do, to live and to enjoy your life, then your general well-being may be affected. Occupational therapists work with people of any age to promote health, prevent disability, and develop or maintain abilities. Occupations can include self-care (i.e. personal care, mobility), leisure (i.e. social activities, sports) and productivity (play, school, employment, homemaking).

Occupational therapy provides the skills for the job of living and solves the problems that interfere with people’s ability to do the activities or occupations that are important to them.

Physiotherapists

Physiotherapists provide services to people who have impairments, disabilities, or decreased functional ability resulting from injury, disease, or other causes. They analyze the impact of injury, disease, or disorders on movement and function.

Physiotherapy is dedicated to:

  • Improving and maintaining functional independence and physical performance,
  • Preventing and managing pain, physical impairments, disabilities and limits to participation; and
  • Promoting fitness, health and wellness.

Speech Language Pathologists

Speech Language Pathologists work with people who have speech and language disorders or communication delays. Speech-language pathologists may work alone or as part of a team to help individuals of all ages to communicate effectively and to eat and swallow safely. The role of the S-LP is to identify, assess, evaluate, treat, manage, educate and help to prevent language, speech, voice, fluency, cognitive, and other related communication disorders, as well as swallowing problems.

Vocational Rehabilitation Specialists

Vocational Rehabilitation Specialists assess their clients’ physical or psychological condition, social and economic situation, attitudes and aptitudes, work experiences, functional limitations, educational background and personality traits to determine the kind and extent of their client’s disability and its impact on their vocational rehabilitation.

Vocational Rehabilitation Specialists may consult with your health team, previous or potential employers in order to establish job opportunities that are consistent with your capabilities and vocational goals. They also work with you to find a suitable job through resume building, practicing interview skills, and may provide on-the-job coaching.
